WYLIE AIMING TO MAKE SUCCESSFUL START TO PORSCHE SEASON

Pre-season testing gives Ross optimism for Donington Park races

Ross Wylie heads for the opening rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Donington Park next weekend (1-2 Aug) with guarded optimism following impressive results in testing. The 28-year-old from Thornhill near Dumfries contests two, 30mins races at the Leicestershire track in his MacConnal-Mason Gallery supported Porsche 911 GT3.

Wylie has been in top-form in the last two “official” Porsche tests at Donington and Brands Hatch and is determined to convert his practice pace into top results in the opening rounds of the 16-race Porsche series at the wheel of the In2Racing 911.

Ross Wylie (GB):
Age 28. Born & Lives Thornhill nr Dumfries, Scotland:

“Pre-season testing has gone very well which makes me hopeful of making a good start in the championship. The pace is fierce at the sharp end, lap times are very tight throughout the field, but my pace was competitive and very encouraging in the two most recent official Porsche tests where I frequently traded places with the top-4 on both days.

“I can’t believe round 1 is finally here, it feels like the longest off season in history – which it probably is! I am incredibly grateful to David Mason OBE for putting his faith in me to race the MacConnal-Mason Porsche Carrera Cup Car with In2 Racing. I’ve been working hard with my driver-coach, Ben Barker, and with my engineer, who are both Porsche specialists.

“Their input is helping me to get the most out of the car. I need to carry our momentum from testing into both races.”
