WYLIE TO MAKE PORSCHE SUPERCUP DEBUT AT BRITISH F1 GRAND PRIX EVENT

Ross fulfils dream in 20th year of motorsport competition with Glenturret support

Ross Wylie will tick off a “bucket list” dream when the Scotsman races in a Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race that supports the iconic British Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone in July.

The 31-year-old Dumfries & Galloway racer, who competes full time in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, makes a guest appearance in what is the international pinnacle of the Porsche one-make cups.

Wylie will race a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car supported by the Perthshire-based award winning Glenturret Distillery plus local Thornhill companies AL-2 Teknik UK, PyroDry and Carronbridge Sawmill. Over 400,000 fans attended the sold out 2022 British Grand Prix three-day event.

Ross, who currently lies second in the Pro-Am division of the Porsche GB series after winning the last two races, makes his debut in the Supercup series that only supports F1 events. He will also be making his debut with Ricardson Racing at Silverstone.

Wylie is a Full Member of the prestigious British Racing Drivers’ Club, an exclusive invitation-only members club based at Silverstone for racecar drivers who have been judged to have achieved success in the upper levels of motor sport for a number of seasons.

Practice for the 14-lap (30mins) race is staged on Friday 7 July, qualifying for the anticipated 30-car field on Saturday with race around the legendary 3.66-mile GP circuit in Northamptonshire on Sunday. But first, Wylie resumes Porsche GB action at Thruxton this weekend (3-4 Jun).

Ross Wylie (GB):
Age 31. Born & Lives Thornhill nr Dumfries, Scotland:

“I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to join the Porsche Supercup at Silverstone.

“I remember watching the race the first time I visited the British Grand Prix with my parents in 2003 so the chance to now join the grid is a ‘bucket list’ dream coming true for me.

“My goal is to have fun but also to do a good job for my main sponsor, The Glenturret – Scotland’s oldest distillery – on the world stage along with further support coming from local Thornhill companies.

“Silverstone’s GP circuit is one of my favourite circuits while it’s also ‘home’ to the BRDC, a club I’ve been connected with since 2014 as a ‘Rising Star’ then a ‘Super Star’, finally becoming a full member in 2021.”
